 Qu'est-ce que HIE ?

HIE est le sigle du nom officiel « **Hypergrid International Expo** ». Malgré son nom anglais, il s'agit d'un événement multilingue qui se déroule entièrement dans les mondes virtuels d'OpenSim. Il réunit une conférence internationale, une suite d'événements artistiques d'envergure et un parc d'exposition de kiosques d'information sur une pluralité de mondes virtuels interconnectés par l'intermédiaire de l'hypergrille d'OpenSim.

L'événement permet surtout aux créateurs d'OpenSim qui s'expriment dans une langue autre que l'anglais de présenter dans leur propre langue les mondes qu'ils ont créés,  ou encore les problèmes qu'ils ont résolus, leurs innovations, leurs expériences et leur art. Afin que tout le monde puisse comprendre,  les présentations et performances sont toutes sous-titrées en français, en allemand, en italien, en espagnol, en portugais et en anglais. C'est une occasion unique de découvrir la créativité foisonnante du métavers d'OpenSim.

La Hypergrid Internacional Expo (HIE) es una conferencia y un evento artístico para los mundos virtuales que se conectan entre sí a través de la hiper-red OpenSim. No todos los creadores de OpenSim hablan inglés con fluidez, pero en esta conferencia todos los residentes explican, en sus propios idiomas, los mundos que han creado, los problemas que han superado, sus inventos, experiencias y su arte y, para que todo el mundo pueda seguir las charlas, hay subtítulos en alemán, francés, italiano, español y sí, ¡también en inglés! Es una ocasión única para descubrir todo lo que está sucediendo en el Metaverso.

 Las fechas y el lugar

Nos complace anunciar que la próxima Exposición Internacional Hypergrid regresará en abril con otra fabulosa lista de oradores, artistas e intérpretes. Al igual que en el evento anterior, planeamos realizar un fin de semana de charlas, música y presentaciones de arte en varios idiomas. 

Next Expo!

 We are pleased to announce  that the next Hypergrid International Expo will be in April.
Just like the previous event, we plan to hold a long weekend of talks, music, and art presentations in a mix of languages.

Mark the dates in your calendar: Friday April 19 there will be an opening party
Saturday 21 and Sunday 21 there will be art shows and talks about topics that interest opensim residents - grid histories, technical ideas, and new projects for improving life in our community.

And remember that the Expo grounds will get a new crop of booths that promote grids and projects all over opensim!

Xirana's HIE Adventure

All the participants at the Hypergrid International Expo have a story to tell - and in some cases it's not just a story but a storybook! That's true of our Spanish moderator, the lovely Xirana Oximoxi, in real life Catalan author and illustrator Nuria Vives. 

In September, over on SL, Xirana's drawings were the subject of an exhibition called 'The Undefined' at the gallery of Aneli Abeyante - there's a picture of that - but even though she's a busy lady, both in RL and in the virtual, she was able to make time to become an integral part of the preparation and of course the main event at this year's HIE Spanish session.

Xirana had been part of the first edition of the Hypergrid International Expo back in 2017 when she was one of our speakers, this time her duties were different. Each section of the conference has a Moderator who introduces the speakers, and they take on the responsibility of getting to know the people they will be introducing, so as to be able to give the best biographical information possible. It's also a good excuse to better know fellow opensimmers! 

First question for Xirana... being moderator, it can be a bit of an adventure, so much can go wrong... so was it difficult? was it scary? was it fun?

Xirana Oximoxi: Being a moderator was not scary...just nervous about everything working fine and also the artists, and you hope that Internet the day of the event is ok and no storm outside etc,_) ... It was also fun all the process of preparing the sessions...talking with all your team every week... you are a nice team, very gentle and interesting. people :)

Pixels at HIE

Jessica 'Lifted' Pixel is a long-time gamer who enjoys the madcap unpredictable, creative aspects of opensim. Lifted, with an immediately recognizable  ring avatar,  is a techie, explorer and a frequent filmer of the hypergrid tours, HG Safari - you can see her videos here on Youtube.

 During the recent HIE event, Lifted was part of the team that filmed the event. How did she get involved?

Lorin Tone: "I Have No Words" at HIE

 Virtual worlds have a limited impact on our senses - no smells or tastes in the metaverse at present ... but while sight is the dominant sense we use here, sound is the magnifier of sensations and it deepens the immersive experience exponentially. But like visual effects, sound effects only really enhance the virtual experience when they are done right.

One of the highlights of the Park is Lorin Tone's build for HIE - it is so elegant and appropriate, the title is  "I have no words". It's a sort of interactive sound sculpture and fits the mood of our multi-language event perfectly.  

It is located on craft-world.org:8002:HIE 2 at the Expo in the HIE auditorium park, which will be staying up until December 15, so if you didn't get a chance to visit the whole thing yet, jump over and check it out.

Sunday at HIE 2023: Spanish Session

 Crossing continents with our last session, we were delighted to have with us Victoria Logan, Nazirah Avro, and Tosha Tyran. This Spanish Session gave lovers of languages the chance to sample four different accents, and three different windows onto the world as seen through Spanish-speaker's eyes.

From pure virtual art, to a personal testimony, to a RL monument made into mesh, it was a whirlwind of emotions.

Xirana Oximoxi was the Moderator for this session. Xirana is a writer with an extraordinary talent also for illustrations. She has published several books for children, and also has this really beautiful and moving blog full of her art - please do not miss it. Xirana lives in Catalonia, while Victoria is in Argentina, and Nazirah in Venezuela. As you can imagine, getting everyone to the event on time, with so many time zones involves, was something of a challenge! But Xirana's calm and kind demeanor and her good sense of fun got us through the trickiest bits of the planning and execution of the event!  Virtual worlds pulling our global community together all on one stage!
