A conference and art performance event for the hypergrid enabled virtual worlds. Not everyone in Opensim is fluent in English. HIE is a 2 day event where residents speak, in their own languages, about about grids they've made, problems they have overcome, their inventions, experiences, and art. And, so that everyone can follow the talks, there are subtitles in German, French, Italian, Spanish and yes, in English too !

Sunday at HIE 2023: French Session

The beautiful and elegant LadyKa introduced the opening session of the Hypergrid International Expo today, at about 6pm Paris time. Another day of fantastic speeches, all in the French language, and inspiring us all to be more active, more open to new ideas, more sensitive to the wider community and to finding ways that we can unite, cooperate and have fun together while respecting the ideas and cultural differences of our neighbors.
A lot of people took time to go and explore the huge park with its 70 booths, each one promoting a grid, a region, a project or a person active right here in Opensim. This event is designed to elevate our sense of residence in this unique hypergrid - a constellation of independent worlds that comes together when they choose to, yet operate as separate entities, creating marvels and oases of peace and fun all around the globe.
Our first speaker arrived on a dandelion seed! Kelso Uxlay gave a really fascinating speech about the KFM function in opensim scripting that allows you to make objects move in a smooth and realistic way, whether it's saloon doors swinging back and forth, or running up a ladder, or even doing a Miley Cyrus... here's Kelso in action!

After Kelso, we moved on to Rage Darkstone, whose fame in opensim is growing alongside his renown in Second Life. Rage enjoys painting and poetry as well as virtual art making, and his 'Ava-Art' performance involved beautiful changes in tone both on in the music and the movement of his avatars and NPCs as they performed a chorography reminiscent of butterflies... with sharp wings!

Our last speaker was Minord Loup with an important update on a brand new projects - Francopholie. Opensim can be a lonely and confusing place if you're new, and even more so if you are not all that fluent in English. The small grid - just one region - called Francopholie is a sort of meeting place, message board, crossroads, improvised party hangout, and neutral territory, a way for French speakers to find each other across the hyperverse no matter where they live or what time zone they operate in. Folly? Definitely not!
