A conference and art performance event for the hypergrid enabled virtual worlds. Not everyone in Opensim is fluent in English. HIE is a 2 day event where residents speak, in their own languages, about about grids they've made, problems they have overcome, their inventions, experiences, and art. And, so that everyone can follow the talks, there are subtitles in German, French, Italian, Spanish and yes, in English too !

Saturday at HIE

The Saturday sessions of the Hypergrid International Expo were filled with light and magic, as we had art performances and talks by German and French speakers.
But first a true babel of languages as our 5 person 5 language panel welcomed everyone to the conference!
The First session of HIE 2024 was in German, introduced by Tosha Tyran, who announced that sadly, the first speaker on the program Loru Destiny, was not able to join us due to a last minute situation in RL.
Her talk would have been about "Opensim, Where Dreams True" and had a lovely message for everyone associated with Virtual worlds and beyond - we very much hope to have her come and deliver the talk next time!
The event continued with a really remarkable experience by Tutz Zabelin of Pangea Grid, called "Godfall" which took place in the sky above the regions.
This build is only a tiny part of what Tutz has build on a large region on her home grid, and it's a bewildering and enchanting mixture of fantasy themes. We were all delighted by it, and by the stirring music ! Big thanks to Marlon Wayne for helping us bring Tutz's work to HIE!
Behind the scenes, too there was a lot going on with subtitles provided and distributed by a team including Kelso Uxlay, Lux Tergeste, Patinha BabiiSnowbody Cortes, and Tosha Tyran. Behind the scenes, Stage Manager Mal Burns was cueing our presenters and organizing the tech side. The whole event was filmed by a 4 person crew led by James Atlloud
The last but definitely not least part of the German session was a talk and art show by Lampithaler Artist, discussing the value of art in making the world a better place. Who can argue with that.

At 12 noon SLT, which is 9pm in most of Europe, the event continued with a French session, introduced by Dabici Straulino.
We began with Gudule LaPointe who is developing a lot of tools for grid owners and grid organizers, things like HYPEvents.
It's so important for opensim to be interconnected, so you can find out about events on your own grid and beyond. Bringing together the community is at the heart of Gudule's work and being more efficient is the best way to get us all together!
Following Gudule, a spectacular display of dance with amazing music by Terra Merhyem called Shamanka.  Seen here, you get a small idea of the remarkable light show Terra gave us, starting with a passionate poem ... a rhapsody on our stage!
Finally Jeff Kelley gave a really great talk about the ways that each of us can contribute to opensimulator - by being part of the developer crew! right now only a handful of people are actively developing opensim, so more help is needed. Jeff talked us through the process and explained the benefits and challenges that come from participating in this vital part of our virtual world.
The evening ended with the wonderful Wolem Wobbit, and lovely OuieNanda singing for us... was a great night!
