A conference and art performance event for the hypergrid enabled virtual worlds. Not everyone in Opensim is fluent in English. HIE is a 2 day event where residents speak, in their own languages, about about grids they've made, problems they have overcome, their inventions, experiences, and art. And, so that everyone can follow the talks, there are subtitles in German, French, Italian, Spanish and yes, in English too !

HIE 2025 Spanish Session

On Sunday April 6 the final session of this year's Hypergrid International Expo was all in Spanish - with voices from around the world - from Barcelona to Puerto Rico, and of course we also had the magnificent retelling of the Four Worlds of the Hopi people, who came into contact with the Conquistadores.
AnaMari Maggi
The session was beautifully introduced by Ana Maggi,  who speaks Spanish, French and Italian, so is a little bit of a symbol for our multilanguage event. She first introduced Xirana Oximoxi, author and artist, from near Barcelona. Xirana has been exhibiting her art inworld for a long time, both in SL and in Opensim, on her region on Craft, called Karnac. Her talk then was all about inhabiting two realities and making art in both, it's a story of hard work and practical challenges to overcome, so it was both an autobiography and a bit of a how-to speech. Very interesting! Remember, all the sessions of HIE were filmed and streamed live on our HieExpo Youtube channel and you can see the Live session in our archive - in coming days, there will be all the individual talks on the same channel.
Xirana Oximoxi
After Xirana, time for some surprising art! we were all swept up into the sky to see the Four Worlds of the Hopi, an installation by Tosha Tyran telling the story of the indigenous people, their customs and culture, and how the incoming Europeans disrupted their ancient way of life.

Following this really spectacular art show, we returned to earth to  hear our final speaker Geo Portal, tell us about 'Out of the World' his experiences with alien entities. It's pertinent to Opensim, because thanks to Tina Bey and Luna lunaria, Geo has been able to represent his close encounters in 3D form using regions once in OSgrid and now on his new grid, Outofthisworld.

Thanks to Forest Azure, the whole event was wrapped up on the HIE dance area with a special set devised by Forest to emphasize the international event... and have us dreaming of the next time!
The Epox park will be up for a few more weeks, so if you missed it, do go and visit the 130 different booths. And remember you can watch HIE on our Youtube channel Hieexpo.
